  1. Beaucoup plus fam. et pop. que arg. ; nombreuses locutions, quelques citations. L’entrée en français, le sens en anglais. (gb)
  2. À partir de la page 369 est un lexique détaché consacré aux comparaisons (froid comme l’acier, doux comme l’agneau, sec comme une allumette, etc.)
  3. Distinguent ce qui est familier (majoritaire dans l’ouvrage) et ce qui est « populaire » : « We have ventured to draw a distinction between the words and expressions characteristic of familiar speech wich form the bulk of the present Glossary and those (marked with an asterisk) wich are confined in the main to the working classes, and may be described as popular. » (p. vi).
